Cook Roasts Laslett.

 

Chris Cook of the Plough and Harrow Bridge became the Dover Deal and District Bar Billiards League Open Singles Champion when he beat Terry Laslett of the Lion. Chris beat Terry 2 – 0 at the league finals night played at the Alma on Tuesday night. On a difficult table Cook to a scrappy first leg 1900-1000. Terry only opened with a couple of hundred in the second at which point Cook took his chance. He abandoned the break shot and resorted to potting on the left hand fifty hole. Keeping excellent position he amassed 4000 to give Laslett no chance of catching him. This is Chris’s first open singles title.

 

Other finals; 

Challenge Cup                          Plough & Harrow (Bridge) beat Greyhound.

Division 2 Singles                      Stuart Richardson of the Royal Oak beat Ann Keen of the Plough and Harrow Tilmanstone 2 - 1 after losing the first leg.

Ladies Pairs:                             Audrey Vickers and Sheila Howarth beat Gill Saville and Lin Callanan, both of the Alma, 2 - 0  after pinching the first leg on the last ball.

Over 50's:                                Peter Clarke beat Alan Smith, both of the Royal Oak, 2 - 0.

Mixed Pairs:                             Chris & Gill Saville of the Alma beat Peter Clarke & Nicki Barwick of the Royal Oak 2 - 0. Chris Saville opened with a 9750 break in the second leg.

Landlords:                                Doug Vickers of the Alma beat Derek Crittell of the Oak & Ivy 2 - 1.

Division 1 Singles:                      John Higgens of the Magnet beat Tim Hayes of the Lion 2 - 1. John sealed the third leg with an excellent 4000 break.

Men's Pairs:                              Chris Cook & Stan Brocklebank of the Plough and Harrow Bridge beat Peter & Gary Clarke of the Royal Oak 2 – 1. Chris thus completing the single and pairs double.

Ladies Singles:                          Ann Keen beat Janet Dale. 2 - 0. Ann taking the first leg after both black pegged.
