Dover Deal and District Bar Billiards League Match Reports

Group   1

The Greyhound ‘A’ team have leapt to the top of the table in Group 1 this week thanks to a 5-1 win at the Plough&Harrow in Tilmanstone where Gareth Butcher for the Sandwich team top scored on night with 4240. The home teams consolation leg was taken by Brian Carpenter and Ann Keen just edging out Dave Carliell and Gareth.

The result from the Royal Oak and Bridges’ Plough&Harrow could easily have been reversed, with the home team taking the points as two of the legs ended up being won by less than 300 points, with Roger Oldfield just getting pipped by Chris Cook and Richard Cousins / Alan Smith narrowly losing to Ken Clark and Kev Brocklebank.

Group   2

After two consecutive victories, Canterbury’s Chantry Club were held to a draw this week by the Greyhound ‘B’; a tremendous result for the chaps from Sandwich. Wins for Stuart Pearcy and Craig Carlson in the first two legs of the evening got them off to a good start. But they were then pegged back as first Mick Nicholl, then Roger Standon / Kevin Kay and Roger and John Fullager won their legs to make it 3-2. Len and Craig Carlson ensured that points were shared by comfortably taking the last leg.

Alma ‘A’ recorded their first win of the season away to the Brickmakers in the Deal derby. Ann Garlinge came closest to taking a leg for the home team, losing by just 170 after John Mitchell black-pegged to lose his opening score.
