Cards are
still being received with just Christian names for new players. Committee News; The committee has decided that the back room at the Lion is a better place to hold meetings than in open public bars. Future meetings will be held at the Lion for a trial period. This does not mean that meetings are private, any player is entitled to attend to put forward a point of view or suggestion. Knock-Outs Start! The draws for the first rounds of the Open Singles, Division1 Singles, Division 2 Singles, Over 50's and Men's Pairs are out. dates to be submitted by Thursday November 7th, matches to be played by Sunday 1st December, All other competitions have been held over. For those of you who were at the recent committee meeting, you will note there are two additional Open Singles matches. I miscalculated the number of games required and Craig and I have had to draw two more to correct it, my apologies. 2000 Bust Rule Clarification; If a player has exactly 2000 on a break in a pairs game, he/she MUST STILL PLAY ANOTHER SHOT WITHOUT SCORING. The committee feel that the final shot of the break must be a failure to score which secures the break. Order of Play Clarification; In league matches the home team must take the first break. If it is known a player will not be there for the first singles leg, he should not be included in the draw for the first singles leg. Newspaper Paper Write-ups; These have been superb so far this season and are vital to the continued existence of our game. This is our only form of publicity to keep the game in the minds of landlords who might put in a table when they see a strong local league. Our thanks go to Craig Carlson, our new Competition Secretary, for the write-ups and the way hw has mastered the league computer system. National Inter Counties; Tim Hayes played and Chris Saville captained the open side. John Mitchell and Alan Farra played as short notice reserves. All players gained points with Chris and JJ winning three out of four. Alan Farra gained the crucial final point that saved KBBA from relegation. Ann Keen played in and captained the ladies side who won division 2 and won four of her six legs. |
