DOVER DEAL AND DISTRICT BAR BILLIARDS LEAGUE.

COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER,

SEPTEMBER 2002

Welcome!

The league welcomes both new and old members to the 2002/2003 season of the Dover Deal And District Bar Billiards League, and wishes you every success.

The Chantry ‘B’ team have decided not to compete (have left a slot for you Stan/Chris), but Doug Vickers wishes to enter a team if his extension (building) is up and he has support. Please bear with us for a couple of weeks, he may need to play a couple of home games at the P&H TM, the fixtures support this.

Dave Howarth has resigned as Competition Secretary and has been elected to be a Life Vice President for his contributions to the League. We welcome Craig Carlson as his replacement. Please make sure you only use the NEW result cards. Make his job as easy as possible by getting the cards in on time with FULL players names on them.

With regard to our committee meetings, we meet on a monthly basis. We have decided to hold meetings at pubs with separate rooms, initially the Lion and the Alma. This is because of the difficulty we have had meeting in open bars. Meetings are held on an informal basis, and we are happy to listen to any players at any meetings regarding problems.  Each team is entitled to one vote from one nominated representative at each meeting.  Once the season gets under way, there will normally be handouts of league tables and averages at each meeting.

I very much hope that you enjoy the season ahead.  I am contactable on my home phone number most evenings at around seven o’clock, if I am not around then messages may be left on my answerphone.  If I can be of any assistance then please do not hesitate to contact me.

We will again be running a fantasy Bar Billiards league this winter.  The league also runs a comprehensive program of individual and pairs knock-outs.

Dates For Your Diary;  Next committee meeting is on Thursday 24th October at the Lion.

Knock Outs 2002; Entry forms are included with this newsletter and must be with Craig Carlson on or before the next committee meeting.

P & H Bridge are Summer League Champions: Summer League 2002 went to the wire with P&H playing the Lion for the title and needing a win to take it. The match could not have been closer with both the last two legs going to the final ball. Deciding leg saw Paddy Maher pot the last ball to beat Tim Hayes and take the title. Its good to see Paddy back after his serious illness.

Brickmakers 'B' are Plate Champions after beating their 'B' team 4 - 2 to catch P & H Tilmanstone who could only draw, Brickies take the title on 'Goal Difference'.

National Off-The-Spot: This is being played at Reading on Sunday October 6th. Its being played to our triangle rules this year! If you fancy a go forms are available from me or the web site under KBBA.
