Finals Night 2002; Alan Smith of The Royal Oak, Nonnington had a marathon evening of no fewer than four finals to compete in and kicked off his campaign by securing the Division One singles title beating the Magnet ‘A’ captain Mike Callanan.  Smith taking the deciding leg with a break in excess of 2000.  Partnering Gary Clarke he beat Alan Farra and Gareth Butcher of the Greyhound for the Men's Doubles title.  Farra made a break of 5,700 to take the first leg. After taking the second leg, Smith sealed the deciding leg with a 6000 break following a 5700 break for Farra in the first. Smith suffered his only defeat in the Open Singles to Chris Cook, with Cook taking the first and last legs each by over 3000. Alan Smith also picked up his third title beating ladies champion Ann Keen for the Over 50's Cup.

In the Division 2 Singles Derek Latham survived a red down the 200 hole from Stuart Pearcy to take the first leg by 2,200 in his two straight leg victory.  The Ladies Singles saw reigning champion Ann Keen retain her title beating the leagues most improved player Sheila Howarth of The Alma.
Sisters Gill Saville and Lin Callanan beat Audrey Vickers and Sheila Howarth in an epic match for the Ladies Pairs title.  Vickers secured the first leg, potting the red just after the bar dropped.  In the second leg Lin and Gill drew level in the match, taking the leg with a lead of 1,500.  The final leg saw an impressive stand by Gill and Lin to gain a lead of 2000 which proved too much for Vickers and Howarth, last years winners.  The Mixed Pairs was a family affair seen many times in the past, Mike and Lin Callanan of the Magnet versus Chris and Gill Saville.  On this occasion the Savilles took the victory in two straight legs, Chris securing the match in the second, opening with a 10,160 break. In the Landlord's Cup former Oak and Ivy landlord Derek Crittell, who flew in from Guernsey the previous night, took the match from relative newcomer to the game Ned Kennedy of The Greyhound.

The 7 a-side triangle rules competition, the Steve Sampson Challenge cup was won by the Greyhound, Sandwich beating The Magnet.  The match is decided entirely on aggregate points scored over the 5 legs, 3 singles and two doubles.  The competition was officiated by Wack Sampson from the Lion, Ash.  The players from the winning team were Dan Jackson, Craig Carlson, Gareth Butcher, Alan and Chris Farra, Kent Over 50's Champion Dave Carliell and Division Two Champion Derek Latham whose singles win by over 2000 put the match out of the Magnet’s reach.

The winning Greyhound team.
