DOVER DEAL AND DISTRICT BAR BILLIARDS LEAGUE. |

INTERLEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! The annual Kent County Interleague competition was held at the Alma on Sunday 24th February, Dover Deal and District Bar Billiards League fielded two sides from the East and the West of the league. The ‘East’ team being the original interleague side, and the ‘West’ team comprising of league players who used to play for the old Canterbury and Faversham leagues. In an unprecedented success the ‘East’ side won the competition for the first time in twenty five years and the ‘West’ side took the runners-up spot ahead of sides from Maidstone Medway and Tunbridge Wells. The ‘East’ side comprised of Chris Saville, Tim Hayes, Ted Batchelor, Alan Smith, Tim Bourner, Mike Callanan, Neville Potts, John Mitchell and Stu Richardson. The ‘West’ side was John Fullager, Mick Nichol, Steve Brockman, Keith Symes, Baz Symes, Kevin Kay, Brian Turner and Sam Millen. The ‘East side were undefeated all day with Chris Saville winning all his matches, Tim Hayes and Alan Smith only losing one. All of the side contributed useful points. For the ‘West’ side John Fullager and Mick Nichol were undefeated and Steve Brockman only lost one. Kevin Kay was unfortunate to play the best players from almost all sides! Dates For Your Diary; Next committee meeting is on Thursday 4th April at the Magnet, Deal. 'B' interleague Sat 13th April at the Alma. Kent knock outs day at the Alma on Sunday 14th April. Finals Night will be on Tuesday 14th May and Presentation Night will be on Friday 21st June at the Alma. Details from Chris Saville. 'B' Interleague; We are the defending champions and will be fielding two sides, the main side based on the Chantry 'B'. The 2nd side, based on the Greyhound teams, is for less experienced interleague players and is captained by Stu Pearcy. If you are interested then let Chris / Stu know ASAP.

Third Round Knock Outs; The Open Singles, Mixed Pairs & Over 50's have been drawn, don't miss out, dates to be submitted by March 7th. Jersey 2002; At the De Normandie, St Helier, on Sat/Sun 9th/10th November. Prices will be £23 a night half board (sharing). Chris will be booking flights soon and expect to pay around £69, so get this and your £30 room deposits to me and I will do the rest. Magnet and Oak & Ivy; The Oak is still closed. The Magnet is now open for business and contrary to rumour, will not be closing for redecoration. KBBA; There has been a reshuffle due to the continued illness of the County Secretary, Janie Macoy. Chris Saville has resigned as Chairman and agreed to take over as Secretary until the end of the season. Steve Purkiss of Medway will be the new Chairman.
