National Pub Team Kent Zone Final;  The Chantry played in this at the Swan at Maidstone on Thursday. They lost the toss on breaks so opposition Good Intent from Medway had breaks 1 , 3 & 5. Unfortunately Kevin Kay was unavailable and the reserve came out with the break on leg 2 against England player Mark Brewster who made the most of his chance. Good Intent opened with leg winning breaks on legs 1 & 3 so went through to the National finals at Reading. Chris Saville, guesting for the side, opened with 10000 to give Chantry a consolation leg.

Web Site; The web site is at http://www.barbilliards.doveranddeal.btinternet.co.uk/ Results, reports and league tables appear every week. Any players who do not wish to have their data published here please let Chris or Dave know. We welcome suggestions for improvements to the site (clean ones only). Email us from the site to receive newsletters direct and save the league some postage.

Spring Cup Format; Playing ideas will be discussed at the next meeting, any suggestions? come along and tell us how you would like to play the game!

Skittle Tattle;

GUESS WHO'S 50 THIS WEEK?

A regular player in this league and the old Deal league for the last 30 years, 'Jacket' has been well known for this distinguishing feature. The pictures were taken in 1974 and John's one concession to being on holiday is the hat! The intrepid travellers were known for driving all round Europe in a Reliant Robin with a trailer! John has never played for any other pub except the Alma in this league and is a previous open singles champion. He has also had the honour of playing 'A' interleague and for Kent in the Southern Counties. Can you spot the other veteran league player along with myself? (less hair nowadays!). John (with jacket) will be at the Alma on Saturday 3rd November to celebrate.

Audrey and Doug Vickers; Audrey and Doug are leaving the Alma on November 5th. They have been tremendous supporters of the league since moving into the Alma 6 years ago. We have benefited from free use of the function room as well as regular gifts of raffle prizes, donations and food on finals night. The league would not be in its current healthy financial position without their much appreciated support. They are taking a 6 month break before deciding what to do next, we wish them well.

Highest Ever Scoring Shot?;

Nigel Scott of the Fitzwalter Arms hit 510 in one shot during his match last week, can anyone better this?
