COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER,

SEPTEMBER 2001.

Welcome;     The league welcomes both new and old members to the 2001/2002 season of the Dover Deal And District Bar Billiards League, and wishes you every success. It is pleasing to note that we have no less than five new teams this Winter League, the league welcomes you all. It is sad to note the loss of the Royal Oak ‘A’ and in particular Peter Clarke. Peter is a life vice president for his services to the league in over 25 years of bar billiards and has decided to retire from active billiards. Peter is the current over 50’s champ and was runner up in the pairs, so he is far from ‘past it’, we hope to see him again.

With regard to our committee meetings, we meet on a monthly basis, at each venue in turn.  Meetings are held on an informal basis, and we are happy to listen to any players at any meetings regarding problems.  Each team is entitled to one vote from one nominated representative at each meeting.  Once the season gets under way, there will normally be handouts of league tables and averages at each meeting.

I very much hope that you enjoy the season ahead.  I am contactable on my home phone number most evenings at around seven o’clock, if I am not around then messages may be left on my answerphone.  If I can be of any assistance then please do not hesitate to contact me.

We will again be running a fantasy Bar Billiards league this winter.  The league also runs a comprehensive program of individual and pairs knock-outs.

For the stats freaks amongst you information is displayed down to match cards and individual players entire league records for a season. Any players who do not wish to have their data published here please let Chris or Dave know. We welcome suggestions for improvements to the site (clean ones only). Email us from the site to receive newsletters direct and save the league some postage.

Genetically Engineered Bar Billiards Player?

Congratulations are due to Ann and Paul Garlinge of the Brickmakers Arms on the birth of their daughter Abbie, born on 14^th August. I wonder how long it will be before she has a cue in her hand? Shouldn’t take her long to start beating her old man!

Alma Flower Power! Congratulations to Audrey and Doug Vickers for winning the title of the best licensed premises in the ‘Deal In Bloom’ competition. Those of you who have been showered by the automatic watering system, when Audrey has forgotten to turn it off, will take particular pleasure in this.

New Life Vice Presidents; Audrey and Doug have also been made Life Vice Presidents of the league in recognition of the tremendous support they give us.
