COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER, JANUARY 2001.
Dates
For Your Diary; KBBA competitions all 12
o’clock registration at the Alma:- ‘A’ Interleague Saturday 24th
Feb. Ladies Sunday 25th Feb. & ‘B’ Saturday 21st April.
Finals Night 2001 will be at the Alma on Tuesday May 15th.
Presentation Night will be at the Alma on Friday June 29th.
‘B’
Interleague; We may have a chance to enter a second team. It would be nice to enter
a side of players who might not have been picked for the full side but are keen
enough to want to have the chance to play in a tournament. Interested? Let Dave
or I know or put your names on a match card
this or next Tuesday.
National Over 50’s; Chris Saville of the Alma became the first player to successfully defend the National title at Reading. Chris hit an 18100 runnout on his first visit to the table and a 16400 opener in the final.
League
(Spring) Cup; No handicaps or triangles this year! The singles and doubles will be
played ‘Off the spot’. It is hoped to start on February 27th.
Fees; Still outstanding Winter League
fees are the Plough & Harrow (Bridge) £12.50, please pay up.
Magnet
‘B’; The
team moved to the Brickmakers’ Arms over the Christmas period. Following a complaint
from the Magnet, the committee decided that insufficient notice had been given
and that the registration at the Magnet should stand. Remaining Magnet ‘B’
fixtures in the Winter league will be played from the Magnet by newly
registered players.
Happiness
is Lion Shaped;
The boys at the Lion were elated when Terry
Laslett finally kept one of the breaks he has been freely scoring but not
keeping this season! In the same match one of the last two 100% records in the
first division went when Paul Smart won his singles.
SuperGlue
Needed!; Dave Macworth of the Greyhound
was that disappointed in his form on the Royal Oak that he dropped his cue onto
a nearby table. Unfortunately the cue didn’t land square and split! Every cloud
has a silver lining though, as the team say he played better with the
replacement. Any players with similar problems, I am short of firewood at
Sparrow Court!
Knock
Out Results; Players are once again reminded to put results on match cards. Failure
to notify the competition secretary of your hard earned win will result in your
disqualification.
Next
Committee Meeting; To be held at the Lion on
Thursday 22nd February at 8.00pm.
Produced by Chris Saville
& Dave Howarth. Any titbits you want included in this newsletter then please
let us have them by the next committee meeting.
