Chris Saville will be playing in the Kent Open Singles Final, and the Chantry with Chris as a guest will be competing in the national pub team championship.
During a discussion about the lack of consideration for the table when playing a MASSÉ (vertical cue) shot, Gill Saville was heard to describe it as a MASAI shot. The problem being, presumably, the danger of stabbing the table with your spear whilst jumping up and down!
Next Committee Meeting; To be held at the Plough and Harrow Tilmanstone on Thursday 19th
July at 8.00pm.
Produced
by Chris Saville (01304 372867) & Dave Howarth (01304 375032). Any titbits
you want included in this newsletter then please let us have them by the next committee
meeting.

ALMA ‘A’
WIN LEAGUE CUP
Alma were
always in control following two big wins from Tim Bourner (6640) and Chris
Saville (7520 with a 6800 opening break). John Fullager gave Chantry a
chance with the nights highest score 8350 (7000 opening break). Crucially Alma
took the first pairs when Gill Saville and John Mitchell pipped Roger Standen
and John Fullager 3710 – 3310. This meant that Chantry had to win the last two legs
with high scores and although Mick Nichol and Kevin Kay took the second pairs
with 5310, it was not to be as Alma sealed the match when John Mitchell and Ted
Batchelor took the last pairs.
ALMA ‘B’
WIN LEAGUE CUP PLATE.
Alma ‘B’ completed the double for the pub by taking
the first four legs against the Brickmakers. The match started disastrously for
the Brickie with Paul Garlinge blacking three times before succumbing to Anne
Cope’s 2490, the highest score of the
night. Audrey Vickers won the second (1310) and Harry Pearson pinched the third
on the last ball (1350). Anne and Harry then teamed up to take a tight first
doubles by 420, before consolation wins for the Brickies from Alan Garlinge and
Craig Lancaster, both partnering Ann Garlinge.
